Adamawa man arrested for kidnapping father

The Police have identified one of the three suspects arrested for kidnapping one Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu at Jera village in Malabu District, Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State as one of his sons.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, Adamawa command’s spokesperson disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola.

He said the success was recorded due to the command’s sustained fight against kidnapping and related violent crimes, following coordinated intelligence-led operations.

“Sequel to the recent kidnapping activities that led to the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu, on January 30, and in compliance with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo to intensify operations against criminal elements.

“A joint coordinated operation comprising police operatives and members of the Miyetti-Allah, was carried out at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at Jera village in Malabu District, Fufore LGA,” he stated.

According to him, during the operation, the team apprehended Lawali Haruna, 45, Yahaya Ibrahim 25, and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera in Fufore LGA of Adamawa State.

“More worrisome, one of the suspects happened to be the biological son of the victim, all the three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

“While efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate, the suspects are in custody while investigations continue,” he said.

Nguroje said, Adamawa CP commended the synergy between the police and local security outfit, reassuring residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information. (NAN)
