Leading African fintech company,  Flutterwave has, on Tuesday, gathered notable political, business and industry leaders from across African continent for its inaugural Gala Night in commemoration of its 10th anniversary.

It was literarily a total shutdown of activities at the prestigious The Delborough Lagos by the cream of personalities who turned out to grace the event.

Notable African political, business and industry elites including formal Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo GCON of Nigeria; Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone; Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; founder of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka; Chairman, Board of Directors of MTN Nigeria, Ernest Ndukwe, and founder/Chief Executive Officer of Stanel Group/The Delborough Lagos, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu were all on ground to identify with the Nigerian brand.

Others included popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, ex-BBN Housemates Dorathy and Erica; Actress Omotola Jalade among other established individuals in various sectors were all in attendance.

To the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, the event was a celebration of excellence, ease and enterprise development.

In his inaugural speech, Agboola disclosed that the vacuum and delay in making online payments across African countries were his driving force leading to the establishment of Flutterwave in 2016.

“In 2026, we started a company that was supposed to be a breaking light in payments in Africa.”

He noted that before 2016, it was faster to send money in bags through plane from Lagos, Nigeria to Accra, Ghana than to wire the money using online/electronic payment system because the wired money would first go to New York before it would be wired to Accra, Ghana.

In separate goodwill messages, Chief Obasanjo, Koroma, Gov. Sanwo- Olu, Dr. Cosmas Maduka and others commended the effort and resilience of the young Nigerian Agboola for making Nigerians and, indeed, Africans proud at the global stage.
