The All Progressives Congress (APC) has planned a mega rally to formally welcome Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to the party next Monday.

Governor Yusuf decamped from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to APC, a move that ignited the political landscape of Kano.

Governor Yusuf’s resignation from NNPP deepened his political tussle with his erstwhile godfather, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, who tagged his action as “betrayal.”

The Governor left NNPP with greater number of members of his cabinet, and the majority of the members of Kano state House of Assembly, including the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The chairmen of the 44 Local Government Areas in the state also left with Governor Yusuf.

However, Governor Yusuf’s Deputy, Comrade Abdusallam Gwarzo remained in NNPP.

But calls for the Deputy Governor’s resignation and plots of impeachment keep mounting, heating the up the political space of state.

Already, the party has set up an 82-member committee to formally receive Governor Yusuf in a grand rally to be held at the Sani Abacha international stadium.

The committee was constituted by the Kano State APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, who described the occasion as a historic political re-alignment.

Our Correspondent learnt that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman, APC governors from across the country, and other top federal government functionaries are expected to attend the reception ceremony.

The 82-member committee has been divided into several sub-committees, including Venue, Security, Health, Emergency and Sanitation, Mobilisation, Protocol, and Publicity.

Former Commissioner for Information in the state and former President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Muhammad Garba heads the Publicity Committee, with the Director-General, Media and Public Relations, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa serving as secretary.

The Venue Committee is chaired by Bala Mohammed Gwagawarawa.

The Security Committee is headed by Umar Malami, with the Director-General of Special Services serving as secretary.

The Health, Emergency and Sanitation Committee is chaired by the state Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Labaran, while Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa will serve as secretary.

The Mobilisation Committee is led by Mohammed Bello Butu-Butu as chairman, with Maaruf Abdullahi Garo as secretary.

Abdullahi Rogo, Director-General of Protocol, will chair the Protocol sub-committee, assisted by Ibrahim Zakari Sarina as secretary.
