The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has begun bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
The Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.
Gbadegesin said the agency deployed carriers, loaders and personnel to clear illegal dump sites and restore environmental standards along the busy corridor.
He said the exercise would extend to Okokomaiko and the median around Lagos State University, identified as sanitation priority locations.
Gbadegesin added that the operation would progress from Agric Bus Stop toward Mile 2, ensuring systematic corridor-wide clean-up and improved public health conditions.
He described the exercise as part of a sustained sanitation framework involving monitoring, stakeholder engagement, public sensitisation and strengthened enforcement against indiscriminate dumping.
The LAWMA boss urged residents, traders and motorists to comply with waste disposal regulations and support government efforts to maintain a cleaner Lagos.
