Mob attacks US consulate in Karachi over Khamenei’s death

Violent protests erupted near the United States Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan on Sunday, with demonstrators attacking security barricades using sticks and stones following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Pakistani media reported.

Clashes broke out along key arteries including MT Khan Road and Nashim Chowrangi as large groups of protesters, many linked to Shia organisations, marched toward the diplomatic compound to condemn Khamenei’s assassination in US-Israeli strikes.

Authorities used tear gas and imposed road closures as security forces prevented protesters from reaching the diplomatic mission.
