UCL Is extra, Premier League Is priority – Tottenham Coach Tudor

Quick Read

Tottenham finished fourth in their Champions League group, which earned them a place in the last-16, and they are set to play Atlético Madrid in the first leg.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interim head coach, Igor Tudor, says the team’s main focus right now is staying in the Premier League, not the Champions League.

Tottenham finished fourth in their Champions League group, which earned them a place in the last-16, and they are set to play Atlético Madrid in the first leg.

However, Tottenham are struggling in the Premier League, having gone 11 games without a win, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.

Tudor said clearly, “Our first aim is the Premier League. This needs to be said publicly.”

Despite this, Tudor believes the Champions League match is still valuable.

He called it a “beautiful game” and said it could help the players grow and try new tactics that might also help in their fight against relegation.

Tudor noted that some key players are returning from injury, including Djed Spence, Radu Dragusin, and Cristian Romero, which gives the team more strength and stability, especially in defense.

He also confirmed that Richarlison will start in the game, though he didn’t specify his position.

Meanwhile, full-back Pedro Porro addressed his angry reaction after being substituted in a recent match against Crystal Palace. He insisted it was not directed at Tudor but was because he always wants to give 100% and win.

Porro said the team is on the right path under Tudor, who has been in charge for just a few weeks, and that the players are adjusting to his style while he learns about them.

Tudor emphasized that while the Champions League is exciting and important, the team’s priority remains improving in the Premier League.

He believes that having key players back and giving the team a fresh approach in training will help Tottenham turn things around.

Even with the pressure of a tough Champions League tie, the focus is on building confidence, testing strategies, and making sure the squad is ready to survive the Premier League season
