He said APGA has taken a similar step before. In 2011, the party did not present its own candidate but supported former President Goodluck Jonathan instead.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has said that his party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will not present a presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

He made this known during a media chat shortly after he was sworn in for a second term in office.

Soludo explained that he supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and believes he deserves another term in office.

According to him, although people may have different opinions, his main concern is what is best for the people of Anambra State.

He said APGA has taken a similar step before. In 2011, the party did not present its own candidate but supported former President Goodluck Jonathan instead.

Soludo added that the party will again adopt a strategy of political alliances ahead of 2027.

He stressed the importance of cooperation in politics, noting that building alliances can bring better results than acting alone.

The governor also said that even though President Tinubu may win the election with or without APGA’s support, aligning with him could help ensure that the South-East region has a voice and benefits in national politics.
