In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the “Ex-Convict” crooner alleged that between 2023 and 2024, several artists treated him poorly and were not welcoming as he tried to break into the mainstream.
According to him, the experience has significantly shaped his personality, making him tougher and less accommodating.
“2023/2024 many artist pour me spit for face… I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean,” he wrote, expressing frustration over the treatment he received.
The singer’s statement has since generated mixed reactions from fans, with some sympathizing with his experience while others criticized his strong choice of words.
Shallipopi rose to fame after his hit single Elon Musk went viral, earning him widespread recognition in the Nigerian music scene. The track gained even more traction after a remix featuring Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML.
In a previous revelation, the singer had credited Zlatan for playing a key role in his rise, stating that the rapper gave his career a major boost without expecting anything in return.
