Kano governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has sacked the state Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, with immediate effect.
Shehu Sagagi, is known for his unshakeable loyalty to erstwhile political benefactor of Governor Yusuf, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
Thus, his sack, analysts say may be related to the fallout between Kwankwaso and Yusuf.
The sack of Sagagi was announced in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.
According to the statement, the former Commissioner is directed to hand over the affairs of the ministry to the Director of Commerce with immediate effect.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the services rendered by the former commissioner during his tenure.
He acknowledged Sagagi’s contributions to the development of the state, particularly, in the areas of politics, religion, small and medium enterprises.
The Governor wished him success in his future endeavours as he reassured the public of his administration’s continued commitment to efficient service delivery and good governance in the state.
Bature said Sagaggi’s sack, “is part of the ongoing strategic re-alignment of government structures for systematic growth and sustainable development.”
Sagagi had served as Chief of Staff to Governor Yusuf, before the office was initially scrapped and he was pushed to the Ministry of Investment, Commerce and Industry.
Though the office of the Chief of Staff was later re-established, Sagagi was not returned to his initial position.
In a recent Executive Council meeting, Governor Yusuf had warned cabinet members against disloyalty to the ideals of his administration and the manifesto of his new party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
