Kano state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has delivered a heart-warming lecture to students and lecturers at North-West University, Kano, giving them tips on personal safety, character development, and how to avoid invasion of crime and criminals in their academic environment and homes.

The lecture delivered at the University’s auditorium was part of activities, marking the 2026 National Police Day, with a series of events aimed at fostering community partnership and building trust.

Dr. Bakori led a delegation to North-West University Kano, where men and officers of Kano state police Command freely interacted with lecturers, staff and students.

The two lecture sessions delivered during the visit were on: “Security and Safety of Students in Learning Environment,” and “Students and Crime.”

The Commissioner of Police urged students to be cautious of their personal safety, avoid involvement in crime and cult activities, stay aware from disgruntled friends.

The police boss also urged the students to always strive to excel in their academic pursuit and character development.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero, congratulated the Nigeria Police Force on the 2026 National Police Day, commending Police Officers in Kano State for their crime fighting efforts and commitment to keeping the peace.

She thanked the Commissioner of Police for the visit, reaffirming the university’s continued support and cooperation.

Present also in the interaction, is the Chairperson of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Bakori, accompanied by her entourage.

In her remarks at the event, the Executive Director of Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), Malama Zainab Nasir Ahmad emphasized the importance of community partnership in ensuring a safe and secure environment.

In a separate event, a novelty football match was played between the Kano State Police Command Machine Team and Rangers FC Kano at Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata Kano, promoting sports and unity.

Men and officers of Zone One police headquarters and Kano state Police Command, had, on Tuesday, embarked on walkathon as part of activities to celebrate the 2026 National Police Day.

The activity was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Officers and personnel of Zone One, led by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone, AIG Garba Ahmed, actively participated in the exercise, demonstrating commitment to physical fitness and strengthening police-community relations.

The walkathon underscored the theme of this year’s celebration: “promoting unity, trust, and collaboration between the Police and the public.”

In his remarks, the AIG commended the officers and personnel for their discipline, enthusiasm, and strong sense of duty displayed during the exercise.

He added that, “the walkathon further reflects our collective commitment to unity, professionalism, and the continuous strengthening of public trust.”

More so, officers and men of the Kano State Police Command continued the National Police Day 2026 celebration, with a series of events aimed at fostering community partnership and building trust.

The Commissioner of Police led the day’s activities, which began with a walkathon along Abdullahi Wase Road Kano, culminating at Mallam Aminu Kano Way.

The Chairperson of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Kano State Chapter, Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Bakori, and members of POWA participated in the walkathon, demonstrating their support for the police and the community.

The Commissioner of Police then proceeded to Dala FM Radio Kano for a live programme, where he engaged with the public and discussed the importance of community policing.

The day’s activities were concluded with a visit to the State’s Federal High Courts in Kano, where the Commissioner of Police met with Judges and court officials to discuss issues related to security and justice delivery.
