Iran has executed two men it accused of working with Israeli intelligence, according to statements from the country’s judiciary, in a case that adds to long-running tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
The judiciary said the men were convicted of espionage offences linked to Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, and were found guilty of cooperating with what it described as a hostile spy network operating inside Iran.
Officials said the pair had been under investigation for involvement in activities aimed at undermining national security. Their death sentences were reportedly upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court before being carried out.
The executions were announced on 20 April 2026, although authorities did not disclose the exact time or location of the procedure.
Iranian officials maintained that the case formed part of wider efforts to dismantle foreign intelligence operations within the country. No independent verification of the allegations has been provided by Israel.
The development comes amid continued hostility between both countries, with frequent claims by Iran of uncovering espionage networks linked to Israeli operatives.
