Get Out Of Lagos, LG Boss Tells Soldiers

President Goodluck Jonathan has been advised to heed the call by the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola and other eminent Nigerians to move away soldiers from the state in the interest of peace and harmony.

Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Raseed Abiodun Mafe, made this call during the swearing in of council officials.

Mafe warned that Jonathan was violating the tenets and principles of democracy and rule of law by retaining soldiers in the state.

Mafe urged the new council officials to be diligent and dedicated in discharging their duties so as to ensure speedy delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

“It is necessary to remind ourselves that government is a serious business that requires competence, dedication, hard work, and discipline, among others. “Based on this affirmation, I want to believe that you are prepared for the enormous challenges posed by the demands of your office so that the confidence reposed in you by our people will not be jeopardised,” he said.

The council boss also called for unity among council officials, just as he appealed for cooperation of the people of the council to enable them take the council to a greater height. “I therefore strongly appeal to you to shun any act of indiscipline capable of causing disharmony among us and distractions that deprive us of achieving our set goals. As you are called to serve today, you must not forget that we are continuing the good work of our founding fathers who laboured tirelessly to lay a virile foundation capable of standing the test of time.”

He told the new council officials to be mindful of their primary assignment which, according to him, is to harness human and material resources to impact on the lives of the people of the council.
