The screening committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has denied reports claiming that a list of cleared and disqualified House of Assembly aspirants for the 2027 elections has been released.
Earlier reports alleged that 98 aspirants were screened by the committee, with 65 persons believed to be loyal to the state governor reportedly disqualified, while 33 aspirants linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, were said to have been cleared.
However, the committee described the list circulating online as fake and unauthorized.
In a statement issued on Monday by the committee secretary, Hon. Tanko Yamowa, the APC said the screening exercise had only been concluded less than 24 hours earlier and no official result had been released.
The statement urged party members, aspirants, supporters, and the public to ignore the purported list, describing it as the handiwork of people trying to create confusion within the party.
According to the APC, any official information regarding the screening outcome will be communicated through the proper party channels.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and due process throughout the exercise.
