Man arraigned over alleged N2.8m stolen money

Toheeb Ameen, 24, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged receipt of stolen money amounting to N2.815 million.
Ameen is standing trial on a one-count charge bordering on receiving stolen property.
The Prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem told the court that the offence was committed sometime in March in Oshodi, Lagos State.
He said that the defendant allegedly received ₦2,815,000 from one Faruk Abiola, who is now standing trial in the court, knowing same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The offence is contrary to Section 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Odubayo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two responsible sureties.
The case was adjourned until May 27, for further hearing.
