Arsenal have finally ended their agonising 22-year wait for the Premier League title after a dramatic twist in the title race saw closest challengers Manchester City drew 1-1 against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result handed Arsenal an unassailable lead at the top of the Premier League table and confirmed the North London club as champions of England for the first time since the historic 2003/2004 “Invincibles” season under legendary former manager Arsène Wenger.

Manchester City’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth effectively shattered Pep Guardiola’s hopes of dragging the title race into the final day, triggering wild celebrations among Arsenal supporters across London and beyond.

Bournemouth’s teenage sensation Eli Junior Kroupi emerged the unlikely hero after curling home the decisive goal in the 39th minute to sink City at a tense Vitality Stadium.

Despite dominating possession for large spells, Guardiola’s side failed to find a breakthrough as Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic produced a string of crucial saves to frustrate City’s star-studded attack led by Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku.

Haaland savaged a draw for City on added time but it was too late. Bournemouth held on.

The final whistle sparked emotional scenes among Arsenal fans, many of whom had endured years of heartbreak, near misses and frustration since the club last lifted the Premier League trophy more than two decades ago.

Arsenal’s triumph marks the club’s 14th English league title overall and their first Premier League crown since Wenger guided the famous “Invincibles” side to an unbeaten league campaign in 2004.

The title also represents a historic personal achievement for manager Mikel Arteta, who has transformed Arsenal from perennial top-four hopefuls into champions after years of rebuilding, heavy investment and tactical restructuring.

Arteta, a former Arsenal captain and ex-assistant to Guardiola at Manchester City, had repeatedly come close in recent seasons before finally dethroning his former mentor.

The Spaniard rebuilt the squad around a youthful core including Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, William Saliba, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, blending attacking flair with defensive discipline throughout the campaign.

Ironically, it was Havertz’s decisive performances in the closing weeks of the season that proved crucial in Arsenal’s final surge toward the title.

For Manchester City, the draw capped a disappointing end to a turbulent campaign that saw Guardiola’s side struggle for consistency despite chasing another domestic crown.

The draw also intensified speculation surrounding Guardiola’s future after reports emerged suggesting the Spanish manager could leave the Etihad at the end of the season following a trophy-laden era that transformed City into one of Europe’s dominant forces.

City had entered the Bournemouth clash under immense pressure knowing only victory could delay Arsenal’s coronation.

Arsenal’s title victory has already triggered celebrations across North London, with thousands of jubilant fans flooding streets, pubs and the Emirates Stadium area moments after confirmation of City’s defeat.
