First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges, insisting that the country is too important and resilient to be threatened by insurgents.
She made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting with members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.
Mrs Tinubu used the occasion to thank the people of Ekiti State for the reception accorded to her and her delegation. She singled out Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Olayemi, for their hospitality and also acknowledged the support traditional rulers in the state gave President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking on the nation’s security situation, the First Lady said the President remained committed to restoring peace across the country.
According to her, President Bola Tinubu is working tirelessly to ensure that insecurity in the country is curbed.
She noted that Nigeria had continued to receive assistance from foreign partners in addressing security concerns and expressed optimism that the efforts being made would yield positive results.

She, however, urged Nigerians to be prayerful, adding that God would not fail the country.
The First Lady was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and used the visit to canvass support for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
As part of her engagements in the state, Mrs Tinubu announced a N100 million Business Recapitalisation Grant for 2,000 female petty traders. Each beneficiary is to receive N50,000 to help strengthen small businesses and support household needs.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adejimi Alagbado, praised President Tinubu’s leadership and reflected on his achievements as governor of Lagos State.
The monarch, who is the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, said the President had transformed Lagos during his tenure and appealed to him to intensify efforts to address insecurity across the country.
Among those who accompanied the First Lady were the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Idele.
Also in attendance were wives of governors, APC leaders and other prominent dignitaries.
