The Memphis-born producer became one of hip-hop’s most recognisable hitmakers after producing and co-producing songs for some of the biggest names in global music.

Grammy-nominated American music producer, Tay Keith, best known for his work with Drake and Travis Scott, has died at the age of 29.

Tay Keith, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, was reportedly found unresponsive in his Nashville apartment after police conducted a welfare check.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said no foul play is suspected, while the exact cause of death has not yet been determined pending an autopsy.

The Memphis-born producer became one of hip-hop’s most recognisable hitmakers after producing and co-producing songs for some of the biggest names in global music.

He rose to international prominence through his work on Travis Scott’s hit song “Sicko Mode,” which earned him a Grammy nomination. He also worked on Drake’s “Nonstop” and BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive,” another major record featuring Drake.

Over the course of his career, Tay Keith built an impressive catalogue with artists including Beyoncé, Cardi B, Eminem, Future, Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion and Sexyy Red.

Despite his fast rise in the music industry, he remained committed to education and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018.

His death has triggered tributes from fans and music industry figures, many of whom described him as one of the most influential young producers in modern hip-hop.
