The opening match of the new campaign will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Friday, August 21, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.
The Premier League has released the fixture schedule for the 2026/27 season, with champions Arsenal set to begin their title defence at home to newly promoted Coventry City.
The opening match of the new campaign will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Friday, August 21, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.
The fixture gives Arsenal an immediate opportunity to begin their title defence in front of their home supporters, while Coventry will mark their return to the top flight with one of the toughest opening assignments in English football.
The first Saturday fixture of the season will see Hull City host Manchester United at 12:30pm.
Three matches will follow at 3pm, with Nottingham Forest at home to Leeds United, Everton hosting Crystal Palace, and Ipswich Town facing Sunderland in their first match back in the Premier League.
Saturday’s action will end with Brentford taking on Tottenham Hotspur at 5:30pm.
On Sunday, August 23, Manchester City will begin their campaign against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, while Brighton & Hove Albion will host Aston Villa at the same time.
Brighton’s fixture has been scheduled with the club’s UEFA Conference League qualification play-off commitments in mind.
Later on Sunday, Newcastle United will welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park in one of the standout fixtures of the opening weekend.
The first round of matches will end on Monday, August 24, when Fulham host Chelsea in a London derby at 8pm.
The 2026/27 Premier League season will begin one week later than usual because of the expanded FIFA World Cup, which will end on July 19.
The league said the delayed start will allow 89 clear days from the end of the 2025/26 season and 33 days from the World Cup final.
The campaign will feature 33 weekend match rounds and five midweek match rounds.
The Premier League said the schedule has been arranged to avoid clashes with UEFA club competition dates where possible.
Clubs will also have at least a 60-hour break between fixtures during the Christmas and New Year period, as part of measures to reduce the pressure of the festive schedule.
The season will end on Sunday, May 30, 2027, with all final-day matches kicking off at 4pm.
The league also confirmed that nine English clubs will compete in UEFA competitions during the season.
It warned that European commitments could still affect domestic fixture dates, especially if clubs progress to the later stages of continental competitions.
