Mighty Stars Boss Unsure Of Lagos FA Cup

Team Manager of Mighty Stars of Iwaya, Mathew Dafe, says he is not sure if his club will participate in this year’s Lagos FA Cup.

Lagos State Football Association has announced recently that any grassroots club that want to participate in this year’s FA Cup will pay the sum of N35, 000 for registration fee and N50, 000 for affiliation fee, making it a total sum of N85, 000.

Dafe told P.M.Sports that many grassroots clubs in Lagos State cannot raise funds for the registration fees before the commencement of the tournament.

He disclosed that his club may not take part in the championship if those who promised to give them money fail to honour their pledges.

“Our chances of playing in this year’s FA Cup is slim because of the registration fees. Honestly, when I spoke with some of my colleagues about the championship, they prefer to play in Boska Cup and other high profile football competitions instead of theLagos FA Cup,” he said.

Although at least 40 clubs have registered for this year’s FA Cup in Lagos, while some are planning to participate in the competition outside Lagos due to the increment of the registrations fees.

Commenting on the new players recruited by the club recently, Dafe said the new players are ready to give their best to the club.
