Pregnancy Row Rocks Team Nigeria Camp

Reports from Team Nigeria camp in Benin City say one of the female boxers, (name withheld) has been impregnated by an official, but the Nigeria Boxing Federation, NBF, has denied the news, saying it was a rumour.

P.M.Sports gathered yesterday that the boxer, who is among the six female boxers in camp preparing for the London 2012 Olympic trials in China, failed a pregnancy test conducted for her after showing signs of ill-health in the camp.

Efforts to confirm the story from the Secretary General of NBF, Patrick Uwagbele, proved abortive as he claimed that he was driving as at the time of the call.

However, one of the coaches in camp, Babatunde Laguda, denied the story, adding that it is a figment of imagination of the people that want to cause distraction in the camp.

“The story is a lie because there is nothing like that. In fact, I’m hearing the story for the first time. Maybe some people are trying to use it to cause distraction in the camp,” said Laguda.
