Italian Engineer Kidnapped In Ilorin

An Italian engineer, who is working with Borini Prono, Construction Company, has been kidnapped in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, northcentral Nigeria.

The victim, who was said to have gone on an inspection of the ongoing road construction along Ola-Olu/ CBN quarters, was reported to have been whisked away by the kidnappers at about 5:30 pm on Monday to an unknown destination.

Sources informed our correspondent that the victim, who was his late 70s, went to inspect some of the road projects awarded to the company by the state government.

Though his name and residence in Ilorin remain unknown, it was gathered that he was one of the Italians handling road projects in Kwara state even before the inception of the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The kidnappers have, up till the time of filling this report, not placed any ransom on the victim, while security operatives are still battling to locate the whereabouts of the victim.

While confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Kwara State Police Command, DSP Fabode Olufemi, said the police were aware of the incident but could not give details of the whereabouts of the victim, adding that they have not been able to make any contact with the kidnappers.
