Tesjak Cup: Handsworth In Bright Start

Handsworth Football Club of Ikeja began their campaign in the Tesjak Cup on a winning note after they defeated United Citizens Football Club 3-0.

The encounter was played on Sunday at the Anwar Ur Deen Model College, Agege, Lagos. Aladeokin Quadri scored a brace for Handsworth in the first half, while Lekan Makinde scored the third goal in the 65th minute to seal victory.

Handsworth’s Team Manager, Tajudeen Olasukanmi, said his team deserved the victory and described the encounter as one sided.

“Our opponents cannot equal us in terms of ball possession. We controlled the game from the blast of the whistle. This victory was a good start for us and we got the victory which was a good start for us,” he said.

Olasukanmi warned his players not to be carried away with the victory, adding that the journey to win a plot of land as the champions of the tournament has just started.

“Every participating team are aware that a plot of land will be given to the champions of this tournament, so we’ll leave nothing to chance to ensure that we are crowned the champions at the end of the day,” he said.

Match Coordinator, Taiwo Adeleke, expressed satisfaction with the officiating, organisation and standard of the tournament.

Two matches will be played on Sunday. Greater Tomorrow FC will trade tackles with Lucky Babes while Spartan FC will confront Orient Sport FC in the last match of the day.
