Woman Steals Baby For Sale

A 27-year old woman, Aminatu Sulaimon, has been arrested and charged before Ebute Meta Magistrate’s court for allegedly stealing her neighbour’s three- year old child, Rokibatu Owolabi.

The little girl was kept in the custody of another neighbour, Mrs. Mosunmola Olusola at 48, Isolo Road, Mushin, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, when she was stolen.

The mother of the baby reportedly claimed that Aminatu stole the little girl  to sell her before she was arrested.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the defendant went to where the baby was sleeping under the custody of Mrs. Olusola and stole her.

However, luck ran out on her when Olusola and the girl’s parents started looking for her  and their

neighbour who saw Aminatu when she was taking  the baby away opened up.

After preliminary investigation, The matter was transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

The matter was reported at the Area ‘D’ Command, Mushin.

She reportedly confessed and the girl was recovered from her.

She was charged to court for stealing under section 275 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. She pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Olajuwon granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.  The matter was adjourned till 9 September 2012.

The woman was remanded in prison custody pending the fulfilment of her bail condition.
