Kayode Ajala’s Car Stolen From Auto Dealer

Two men who snatched a Toyota Sienna car belonging to Mrs Linda Ajala, wife of a prominent journalist, Kayode Ajala, have been arrested.

The suspects allegedly stole the vehicle from the auto dealer at Ladipo, Mushin, Lagos and drove to Abraka, Delta State, to look for buyer.

Crime Watch investigation revealed that the auto dealer, Mr Rotimi, a UK-based businessman who recently returned to Nigeria opened a car wash where he employed one of the suspects and also displayed some of his cars for sale.

Speaking with Crime Watch, the auto dealer said: “I employed him at Ojodu-Berger car wash.On that day, I was travelling to Abeokuta, Ogun State and I was to pick someone there and my car was dirty so I needed to wash it. He narrated his plight to me that he needed help and I brought him to my place at Ladipo in August this year. He even stayed in the place I provided for him since he claimed he won’t be going to his Ikorodu home until weekend.

“He always cleaned the car and the key was also with him. They day they wanted to buy it, the vehicle disappeared and I went to Olosan Police Station to report. From there we went to Ikeja Police College and they helped us to radio.

“I later went to the car wash at Ojodu where I met him and the police arrested his friend who later took us, policemen and owner of the vehicle to Abraka, Delta State. We saw the vehicle parked in front of a  student hostel with one of the tyres flat. We then used the extra key to open it and brought out the extra tyre and fixed it.

“We took the vehicle to a police station there. While I was trying to repair the flat tyre, the other suspect came on okada and quickly surrendered.”

According to him, the suspect, on the day he stole the car, he burgled where his employment letter was kept and removed it with his passport photographs and the photocopy of the original particulars of the vehicle”

The suspects have been handed over to the Olosan Police Division where they have made confessional statements.
