Native Doctor Docked For Fraud
A native doctor, Taiwo Agbaye, 39, alleged to have defrauded a Lagos trader, Adebayo Azeez, has been arraigned before a Tinubu chief magistrate court, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
According to a three-count criminal charge J/96/12 filed before the court by police prosecutor, Taiwo Agbaye, 39, and others now at large between 5 January and 30 September, 2012 allegedly obtained by false pretence and with intention to defraud induced one Adebayo Azeez and collected N4,800,000 from him on the ground that he would assist him to make progress in his business.
The police prosecutor alleged further that in the process of assisting the trader in making good sales the accused collected N4.8 million from Adebayo Azeez and converted same.
The offences of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretences alleged to have been committed by the accused herbalist are contrary to and punishable under sections 409,312 (2) (a ) and 285 of the criminal code laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
He was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, while the case was adjourned for trial.
