Mexico Friendly: Nigerians In U.S Rally For Eagles
Nigerians in the United States, especially those in Texas and the surrounding states, are getting ready to have a massive party when the Super Eagles take on the Mexican national team in an international friendly in May.
Nigerians were also shocked when the team had to battle back to force Kenya to a 1-1 draw in Calabar in a World Cup qualifier, in a game that was supposed to herald their home coming after the Nations Cup triumph, but all that have not stopped Nigerians in Diaspora.
“Houston is waiting for the Eagles, and it is going to be one big party,” Ifeshokan Ogundana, a Nigerian based in the city told futaa.com yesterday.
“A lot of people here see events like this as a way of bringing Nigerians together, and so, a lot of organizations are planning events around the Eagles visit.
“A lot of tickets have been sold, and the atmosphere is already charged, because we all want to see the African Champions.”
However, there are fears in certain quarters that the game may suffer the same fate as the last excursion of the Eagles to Texas, when a tournament was cancelled after the Eagles had landed in Dallas. The team had since played another friendly in Miami.
