An Ojo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday sentenced a teenager, Sikiru Akorede, 19, to six months in prison for stealing 14 cell phones valued at N57, 000.

Akorede, whose address is unknown, pleaded guilty to the two counts of conspiracy and stealing preferred against him.

Chief Magistrate Taslimi Shomade, who sentenced Akorede, gave him an option of N57,000 fine.

The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, had told the court that Akorede committed the offence on 20 August 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Okokomaiko in Ojo area of Lagos.

He said that Akorede stole 14 different phones valued at N57, 000, belonging to one Ayo Adeogun.

Eze said Akorede had been arrested following the complainant’s suspicion that he stole the phones.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
