Falconets’ coach, Peter Dedevbo, said the team’s 2-1 win over South Korea on Saturday at ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup would boost the players’ confidence ahead of their match against England.

A statement from the team’s Media Officer, Elizabeth Carr, quoted Dedevbo as saying that the team would continue to train harder to get three points against England, the last of their Group C matches in the tournament holding in Canada.

NAN reports that the team’s victory over South Korean was their first after a 1-1 draw against Mexico in their opening group match on Wednesday.

“I feel very happy with this victory because after our first game, we went back to the drawing board.

“Even the players were disappointed with the first match, but we developed a new strategy against the Koreans yesterday.

“You know we play the same kind of football normally, but we decided to change our play by throwing the ball forward because their defence always stands flat.

“For our next match, we will not relax on this victory. The team will continue to train hard to clinch the three points against England which will give us a comfortable lead,” Dedevbo said.

The statement said that the Falconets would depart Moncton on Sunday for Edmonton, venue of their the match against England on Wednesday.

NAN reports that Nigeria now tops Group C with four points, England and Mexico have two points each while South Korea has one point.
