Monitoring groups have impacted positively – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday said suggestions from election monitoring groups have impacted positively on the country’s electoral processes.
INEC Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, made this known during an interview with NAN in Abuja.
He said the commission was implementing observations it believe to be implementable within the law.
“Parts of the requirements for the accreditation of election monitoring groups are that they should submit report of what they have observed on the field on election days.
“In addition, INEC also appoint what we call monitors to monitor all elections, including by-elections, with both domestic and foreign observers that always submit reports that the commission considered.
“We actually consider observations that we believe to be implementable and those that can improve the process by factoring them into our planning and decision making processes.
“We have seen from results that the process is better for it,” Osaze-Uzi.
He assured that the commission was ready to receive credible and implementable suggestions that would further improve the country’s electoral process.
