The police on Thursday arraigned a technician, one Femi Adejuwo, in a Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Wuse, Abuja, over missing parts of laptop brought to him for repairs.

Adejuwo, 41, who has a workshop at Canopy Market, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, was alleged to have collected a laptop for repairs bu fauled to do the job.

The prosecutor, Sgt Abdullahi Adamu, told the court that one Daniel Ogechukwu of Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, reported the matter at Wuse Police Station, Abuja, on October 14, 2014.

He added that Adejuwo is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

He said that sometime in November 2013, the complainant gave his Dell laptop to the accused for repairs and made part payment of N10,000.

Adamu added that the accused did not only fail to carry out the repairs as agreed, but also removed some components of the laptop without Ogechukwu’s consent.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code and if convicted, the accused could be punished with a term which may extend to 10 years in prison or an option of fine or with both.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty and the prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to reopen the case.

Sequel to his plea of not guilty, the Magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 and two reasonable sureties in like sum.

The magistrate said “bail is free but if you fail to bring your sureties, you will be remanded in prison custody.”

Shafa also ordered that the sureties must have fixed addresses within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the matter until March 3 for hearing.
