Litigants decry stinking public convenience at Igbosere Court

Litigants who visit Igbosere Magistrates’ Court daily to attend to their cases have called on the relevant authorities to urgently come to their aid and find solutions to the dirty toilets at the court which are stinking.
Some of those who spoke with P.M.NEWS correspondent at the court premises on Wenesday about the ugly state of the toilets appealed to the state government to send health officials to the court to find out why the toilets have not been cleaned for over one month now despite the fact that a new contractor has taken over the cleaning of the court.
They also appealed for the reopening almost all the toilets downstairs that are shut with only the female toilet being use by more than 6,000 people daily.
They urged the authorities to act fast to avoid an outbreak of epidemics in the court.
According to a litigant, Mr Kunle Alebiosu, Governor Ambode should please intervene in the maintenance of Igbosere Magistrates’ Court because despite the fact that a new contractor is in charge now, the only female toilets being used by more than 5,000 people is too dirty, with smelling stagnant ater on the floor, while other toilts have been locked up downstairs for no justifiable reason.
“I am appealing to the Governor to act fast because the dirtiness of the female toilets and the offensive odour emanating from it is not only a dent to the Lagos State Government, but could spread diseases to users,” Alebiosu said.
Reacting, Mr Okey Oduoza said,”I am appealing to Governor Ambode to sustain the infrastructure at the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court and appoint experienced cleaners who are ready to do the job. The way everywhere is smelling in the court is discouraging litigants.”
Efforts to speak with the new contractor in charge of cleaning the court was not successful as of the time of filing this report as the manager was said to have gone out of the court premises.
