Young Stars Lift Ezirim Cup

Young Stars Football Club of Festac emerged the champions of the just concluded Ezirim Cup, which was played recently at the Olympic playground, Amuwo-Odofin.

Young Stars defeated New Stars Football Club of Ijesha 1-0 to lift the trophy. The goal was an own goal scored by Chika Asiegbu of New Stars in the 49th minute.

New Stars Coach, Animashaun Ola, expressed satisfaction with the boy’s performance. He blamed their defeat on the poor state of the pitch, which was waterlogged. He said this seriously affected his team’s performance in the final.  The cup donor, Alhaji Ikenna Ezirim, commended both teams for their good football display, saying that the better side won at the end of the day.
