The Federal Government Staff School (Unity Primary School) in Owerri on Friday graduated 91 pupils of its primary six and nursery three in the 2016/2017 academic session.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Cosmas Samuel, who spoke at the 31st Graduation Ceremony at the school premises in Owerri, said the school achieved remarkable feats in the last few years.
He highlighted some of the achievements recorded in his two years in office to include a record of 90 per cent success in the Federal Common Entrance, 100 per cent in the State Common Entrance and the implementation of both curriculum and extra curriculum activities of the school.
Others, he said, were the enthronement of and enforcement of staff discipline, implementation of the Back to Farm policy of the Federal Government and bringing the old boys of the school together.
Samuel expressed gratitude to members of the school governing board and the management staff for their support and encouragement, which he said, made the school to attain its current height.
The Chairman of the Governing Board, Mr Kizito Ajaelu, expressed happiness at the standard the school had attained since its inception and commended the teachers for raising the bar of academic excellence for the pupils.
He thanked the parents for their faith in the school, promising that the school would continue to put smiles on their faces through the performance of their children and wards academically, socially, spiritually and physically.
He identified some of the remarkable achievements of the school to include rehabilitation of dilapidated structures, restoration of moribund computer section, prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and creation of offices for the administrative staff.
The highlight of the programme was the donation of computers to the school by the board and presentation of prizes to the deserving pupils.
