Alhaji Abdulkareem Babazannah, a 42-year-old Borno philanthropist has launched a platform known as “Kin Reunifier” to help reunite 56,000 unaccompanied minors of Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) with family members.
Babazannah, who made this known in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Maiduguri, said the platform was aimed at creating avenue for vulnerable victims who lost their loved ones as a result of Boko Haram insurgency to be reunited.
He explained that “I was inspired to launch Kin Reunifier application following a true life event in Dalori IDP camp in 2015 after a visit with team of health personnel examining a seven-year-old girl.

“We were told that the girl was an unaccompanied orphan and her parents were nowhere to be found and that prompted my desire to provide the platform.
“The primary mission of getting medical attention to the child was briefly put on hold to now search for her family. And after nine days of searching, the mother and siblings were found in another IDP camp.
“The platform is designed in four different languages namely Hausa, English, Arabic and French because of the disposition of the region.
“We are sensitising people about Kin Reunifier on Peace F.M. Maiduguri, where people are encouraged to search for someone who is missing or to report missing persons.
“One may wish to say that majority of parents might not be using the Internet; you don’t need to own an android phone before searching for anybody.
“In this case, we are collaborating with National Orientation Agency (NOA), operating in the 27 councils of the state to help parents to find their children and vice versa.”
