Fashola’s Aide Charge Lagosians On Voter Reg
Special Assistant to the Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. Yetunde Akitoye-Braimoh has charged Lagosians to turn out massively and register for the national voters’ registration exercise which begins this week.
Speaking at a quarterly seminar for Christian leaders in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, southwest Nigeria at the weekend, she reminded Lagosians that their votes counted and should try to contribute their quota to make the transition a success.
According to her, “the youth, women, men and the elderly should go and register during the registration exercise so as to be eligible to vote candidates of their choice in the forthcoming general elections in the country.
“You should always adhere to the idea of one man one vote. I and my group will join other monitoring agencies both spiritually and physically to ensure that the coming election is successful.â€
Akitoye-Braimoh, who is also the President, Patriotic Christian Women Forum, also called on Christians leaders to make it a point of duty to find time and constantly remind their members and non-members alike to participate fully in the forthcoming elections.
“It is the duty of Christians in the state to carefully and fully participate in the conduct and choice of a preferred candidate of their choice that they know would truly represent them in governance,” she charged.
Akitoye-Braimoh appealed to youths not to allow themselves to be used by selfish and self-centered politicians who are bent on truncating the transition from one civilian government to another.
The theme for the seminar was Christian Participation in Electoral Process.
