Igbobi High School Holds Inter-House Sports
Igbobi Junior High School Somolu held its Annual Inter-House Sports competition recently at Angus Memorial Secondary School, Somolu, Lagos State.
At the event, Red House stole the show both in match past and overall sports with 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals.
Chairman Committee on Tourism in Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Emmanuel Olowo, who was the Special Guest of Honour and Chairman of the day, was impressed with the organisation and standard of the Inter-House sport.
He thanked the Lagos State Government for upgrading the sports facilities in the school to accommodate other sports like football, tennis, basketball, vollyball, cricket and gymnastic among others.
Jemilugba Mathew Abayomi, the host and Principal of Igbobi Junior Secondary School, said grassroots sports have been limited to senior secondary schools at the detriment of those at the junior level.
He, however, called on the state government to focus more on junior secondry schools and give them support to take part in future national competitions.
Guests at the occasion included; Mrs Folasade Abass, Zonal Office Inspectorate Unit Somolu; Chief Adebukola Babatunde, Coach Somolu, L.G.A, Prof. E.A. Atansuyi, Principal, Somolu Senior High School Somolu; Mr. Idowu Babalola, Igbobi High School’s chairman of parent forum.
Others are Fakorede Angus from the Memorial Senior High School; Mr. Itama Ogbeide Sunday, Vice Principal, Oduduwa Junior High School Gbagada and the host sports master Dauda.
