ACN Lauds Police Presence At Party Rallies
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, chairman in Rivers State, Barr Uche Okwukwu has expressed joy at the heavy presence of the police at political party rallies in the state.
Speaking in Oyigbo, he appealed to the state police command to maintain the same zeal and commitment during the April polls.
Following the alarming rate of thuggery and political attacks across the country, Rivers State inclusive, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) issued a directive to security agencies to nip the ugly trend in the bud and compel politicians to play the game according to the rules and respect the sanctity of human lives.
Meanwhile, the ACN rally at Oyigbo was a carnival of sort through the streets and roads in the area to the Centred Field.
ACN House of Representatives candidate for the constituency, Pst (Mrs) Nancy Nwankwo, in her address to the crowd that sang and danced to the rally ground, decried the failure of the indigenisation policy of government in the area, accusing past leaders of fighting for only their pockets rather than standing up for the council areas in their dealings with Shell and other multinational companies that operate in the area.
She lamented that an LGA which was created in 1991 has never had a single representation at the national assembly 20 years after its creation, and promised to make laws that will impact on the lives of the people.
