Police Arraign 3 For Sealing Off Church
Three men were on Thursday in Lagos arraigned for unlawfully sealing off a church.
The accused, Kelechi Eze, 27; Israel Jeremiah, 20 and Osita Atusiaka, 27, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and breach of peace at an Apapa Senior Magistrate’s Court.
The trio, however, pleaded not guilty.
But the prosecutor, Sgt. Uche Kalu, insisted that the accused had a case to answer, alleging that they prevented the pastors and members of the church (name withheld) from conducting fellowships.
He said the accused conspired with one Solomon Akpan— still at large— and sealed the premises of Pastor Fidelis Isige’s church at 76, Babani St., Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos.
He said by the action of the accused they caused a breach of the peace.
Kalu said the offence, which was committed on March 27, contravened Sections 249 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs. A. K. Shonubi admitted the accused to a bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case till April 15.
