WASU Tasks Fashola On Job Creation
The president of the West African Student Union, WASU, Comrade Olugbenga Olushola Fashina, has urged the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to do more on job creation for graduates during his second term in office.
Speaking while presenting an award of merit to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Wale Raji in Lagos, Fashina commended the state government for its commitment to the provision of qualitative education and conducive learning environment for the students in the state.
While congratulating the governor on wining a second term of four years, he said that the people of the state appreciated and identified with his achievement in his first term and urged him to use the second term to complete on-going projects and initiate fresh ones.
He explained that the student union was trying to identify, appreciate and honour those who had contributed immensely to the development in Lagos State, particularly in the area of success and welfare of students.
The union leader hailed the permanent secretary for his good conduct and excellent performance in supporting the governor to create an enabling environment for business to thrive.
Responding, Raji thanked the students for the recognition, declaring that the best of the leadership of Fashola was yet to come. He assured Lagosians that the state would excel in the second term of Fashola.
He advised the students to be role model to others in their academic and non-academic endeavours by not writing script that they would not like anyone to read, adding that they should “guide against what you cannot stand by.â€.
The permanent secretary implored the university authorities to do more in the area of discipline in order to promote peace on campus.
He assured that the honour accorded him would put him on his feet to improve in his performance.
