Fans Predict Nigeria, Togo Final
Soccer pundits who have been following matches in the ongoing WAFU Nations Cup at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, have tipped Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Togolese’ Hawks to play in the final of the regional tournament come Saturday.
Some spectators who watched Togo matches against Ghana in the group stage told P.M. Sports that they were impressed with the performance of the Togolese side. They expressed the belief that if Togo can play as they did against Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday, they are good for the final. The fans also see Nigeria winning their game against Ghana this evening.
“Togo came late to the tournament with young and enterprising players. Their performance against Ghana was not only fantastic but also gladdened the heart of most of us who came to the stadium to watch them,†one of the fans, Segun Olukotun, said.
“My bet is on Nigeria and Togo final on Saturday. The two teams played good football in the group stage and I don’t see any country stopping them in their semi finals,†said another fan, Bidemi Akinoya.
Meanwhile, Togo’s coach, Tchanile Tchakala, has commended Nigerians for their support in the two matches they played against Ghana . He told journalists that Nigerians are soccer loving people, adding that the support from the fans really motivated them to beat Ghana’s Black Stars to top Group A table.
“Nigerians love good football and Togo gave them good football. I want to thank the people of Nigeria for their support and I promise them that we will not disappoint them in the semi final,†he said.
