Voters shun polling units in Anambra (Photos)

The polling officers at unit 023, ward 6, Nkwameyin, Awka South, said no electorate has shown up for accreditation for the ongoing governorship election.

Our correspondent at the scene said, as at 10:30 am most of the INEC officials were either sleeping or playing with their phones.

The same was witnessed at polling units 008, 022 and 025 at Aguoka 01, Aroma Junction.

Only unit 008 has a handful of voters waiting to exercise their franchise.

No voters also showed up at units 018, and 019, ward 19, Ezenifite Town Hall, Okpuno. Only unit 008 enjoyed patronage of voters.

One of the voters who identified herself simply as Ada, opined that threat by IPOB may have contributed to the low turnout of voters.

Ada said she finally summon up the courage to come out to vote after making several calls to find out about the security situation in several places.

Residents of all voting areas were seen in the front of their houses observing proceedings from afar.

As of the time of filing this report, no violence has been recorded across the state.
