The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has applauded two former aspirants who announced that they have dropped their plans to challenge the party over his emergence as its flag bearer.

Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele and Rep. Femi Bamisile had announced that they will no longer be part of the suit being mooted against the outcome of the primary of Jan. 27 which produced Oyebanji.

Mr Raheem Akingbolu, Media Assistant to Oyebanji stated on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, that Oyebanji thanked the two leaders for putting the interest of the party above other considerations.

He added that Oyebanji also hailed the two former aspirants for demonstrating exemplary leadership qualities through the gesture.

He stated also that Oyebanji described the actions of the aspirants as further reinforcing the belief that the APC remained one big family where disagreements were resolved amicably in the overall interest of the people.

He added that Oyebanji expressed optimism that the remaining aggrieved aspirants would also embrace reconciliation and work for the success of the party at the poll.

According to him, Oyebanji expressed the hope that the party would go to the June 18 election as a united front.

He quoted Oyebanji as saying: “I received with gladness the news of the decision by Sen. Bamidele and Hon. Bamisile to drop their suit and work with other leaders to ensure victory for the APC at the governorship election.

“Their decision has further confirmed their commitment to the growth and success of our dear party and this is highly commendable.

“I hope my other co-aspirants will follow suit in the interest of peace and unity.

“I urge all our members to appreciate these leaders for this excellent decision and refrain from making any remarks that might be deemed unfriendly.
