The Deputy minority whip of the Senate, Danjuma La’ah on Tuesday loses bid to continue in the National Assembly beyond 2023 as he was defeated in the battle for Kaduna South senatorial ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by Mr. Sunday Katung.
Declaring the result of the election, the Returning Officer, Sabo Babayaro, said Katung polled 112 out of 269 votes cast while the incumbent, Danjuma La’ah came second with 74 votes.
According to him, the other aspirants, Shehu Garba got 52 votes; Monday Dikko 21 votes; Adams Jagaba 7 votes, while Suleiman Dauke and Mark Jacobs got no votes.
La’ah was announced the new Deputy Minority Whip of the 9th Senate early May, 2023
He replaced Ibrahim Danbaba who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
he was first elected into the Senate in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.
