The Manchester United manager has dropped Ronaldo for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea as punishment, having previously left early during a pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano.
Speaking today, ten Hag said: “Yes, I can confirm Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on against Tottenham”.
“There has to be consequences. It is important for the attitude and mentality of the group”.
“Details are between Cristiano and me. The statement is also clear, he remains an important player in the squad”.
