All Africa Games Table Tennis: Toriola Leads Others To Ibadan Camp

Commonwealth Games Champion, Segun Toriola led other foreign- based players to Ibadan camp of the Nigerian ping pongers preparing for the All Africa Games in Maputo, Zimbabwe in September.

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), has shortlisted 20 players for close camping after its organised open trials last month. The trial was held at the table-tennis hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

P.MSports gathered from the Secretary General of the NTTF, Segun Oguntade, that the players both foreign and local based have started camping in Ibadan, Oyo State..

Oguntade said the ping pongers are in great mood and happy with the situation in the camp as there are lots of activities to keep them busy.

He said that the decision of the federation to begin early camping for the Pan Africa tourney is yielding results.

Also commenting, the captain of the team, Toriola, said, the players are in high spirits and are raring to go.“We are intensifying training and looking forward to the competition,” he stated

The male players in the camp include Quadri Aruna, Ajetumobi Seun, Nosiru Kazeem, Morotun Monday, Onalapo Ojo, Ogidiolu Jide, Abiodun Bode, Oyetayo Sola and Oyeniyan Boboye

Their female counterparts are Edem Effiong, Cecilia Otu-Akpan. Janet Effiom, Halima Hussein, Funke Oshinaike-Irabor and Ganiyat Olatunde.

Others are Nike Aroyewun, Ganiyat Ogndele, Fatimo Kazeem and Olaide Atinuke.
