Security operatives in Ogun have launched a manhunt for kidnappers who abducted Popoola Olasupo, an officer of the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) from a commercial vehicle on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday.

It was gathered that the police and local vigilantes are on the trail of the kidnappers who abducted Olasupo at about 6:30 am on Sunday morning.

An eyewitness said in the incident which happened in the Fidiwo axis of the expressway, the kidnappers had ran out of the bush and opened fire on the commercial bus, forcing the vehicle to stop.

However, they took only the Olasupo Popoola who was on his way to resume duty away while other passengers were allowed to continue with their journey.

The spokesperson for Ogun police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the abduction of the TRACE official to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

He said the state police command anti-kidnapping team is already after the kidnappers.

“Our anti kidnapping squad are already after them, we are combing the forests and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun state is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” he said.
