Coach of Brazil, Ney Franco, has described the Young Pharaohs of Egupt, as a good team, whose potentials should not be under estimated in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
Brazil’s World Youth Championship, WYC, campaign got off to a limp start after they were held, and for large periods outplayed, by a hugely impressive Egypt in a match played early today.
In a gripping, chance-high first half, Danilo headed A Seleção ahead before the right-wing back’s mistake allowed Omar Gaber to equalise for the Pharaohs. And that is how it finished, leaving several players to lament missed opportunities and four sides level on one point apiece in Group E, following the 0-0 draw between Austria and Panama.
Brazil coach, who could not hide his admiration and prowess of the North African opponents told fifa.com after the grudge match that “our marking was poor, but Egypt’s quality was excellent. They are very well organised and two of their players, Mohamed Ibrahim and Mohamed Salah were outstanding and have great futures.
“We didn’t win but it was only the first game. We’ll be better next time. This team have great potential.â€
El Sayed Diaa, Egypt coach thanked the fans in Baraquilla, Colombia for their support through the match, saying “the fans were amazing. I want to thank the people of Baranquilla. They really inspired us. They helped Egypt play with real passion.
“We have the players to win this tournament. Now we will focus on the next game.”
