Thousands of residents have been forced to flee their homes as multiple wind-driven fires continue to ravage Los Angeles County.

As of the time of filing this report, over 20 square miles and more than 1,000 buildings have been reduced to ashes.

The fires, which started less than 48 hours ago, are spreading at an unprecedented rate, with LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley describing the situation as “unlike anything we have seen in our lifetime”.

According to Crowley, the fire is believed to have started accidentally in a backyard around 10 am Tuesday and quickly spread due to strong winds.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell has also confirmed that his crews are facing “unprecedented conditions” and has urged residents to heed evacuation orders.

The situation is being described as “a tragic time in our history” by McDonnell, but also as an opportunity to come together and support those affected.

To help the people of California, donations can be sent to the California Fire Foundation, which provides ongoing support to communities affected by natural disasters like wildfires.

The California Fire Foundation works closely with local fire agencies and community-based organizations to provide direct support to victims, including those impacted by the Palisades Fire.

Your donation can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating disaster.
