Pastor Begs Court To Dissolve Marriage

A 67-year- old Pastor on Thursday urged the Shomolu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his 20-year-old marriage, to save his life.

The petitioner, Pastor Samuel Asiru, prostrated before the court and pleaded that his marriage to Helen be dissolved to enable him have peace, claiming his wife had demonic powers.

“I have brought my wife before this court in 2007 to dissolve our relationship and the judges reconciled us but the demon in her life is still affecting me spiritually.

“I packed out of the matrimonial home since 2002, due to my wife’s satanic attitude but I have been responsible for the upkeep of our children,’’Asiru said.

Asiru claimed that his wife’s spirit made him go blind and had partial stroke, adding that God had revived him from the ill-health.

“Some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria and 13 different pastors have intervened on our matter but I can never consider her back into my life.

“I rely on this court to separate our relationship because I believe court’s wish is final and I am promising before the court to Pay N20,000 monthly for the children’s upkeep,’’Asiru said.

Asiru said that he would continue to pay the children’s school fees.

Helen, 50, a teacher in Lagos, pleaded with the court to reconcile their differences, saying that she still loved her husband in spite of his utterances.

The Court President, Mrs Modupe Bajulaiye, told the couple that the court was meant for reconciliation and would not dissolve any marriage without intervening.

Bajulaiye gave them one month to see if reconciliation effort of the court would be fruitful.

She adjourned the case to July 2, for possible reconciliation.
