Sports have been described as veritable tools which the youths can be positively engaged in and contribute their quotas to the development of the local governments and the country as a whole.
Honourable Wasiu Ehilokun Sanni, Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government Area, Lagos, Nigeria, made the assertion at the final of Lagos Island Inter-Ward football competition, organised by the local government.
The football competition, which was played among the youths in all wards of the local government, saw the team from Ward C3 winning the championship while the team from Ward C2 came second.
Apart from the trophies won by the two teams, the winning team carted away the sum of N100,000, while the runner’s up went home with N50,000.
All the matches were played on Jakanra playing ground and Campus mini stadium.
